On track : Wired to Follow - I Wish I Could Talk in Technicolor

Wired to Follow - I Wish I Could Talk in Technicolor

New four-piece Liverpool band Wired To Follow, have released their debut track ‘I Wish I Could Talk in Technicolor’. We caught up with them to ask about the new single.

Tell us about the new track, how was it recorded? Was it a conscious decision for it be your first release?

It was recorded mostly by ourselves, with some additional engineering at Whitewood Studios here in Liverpool and then it was mastered overseas by Nick Petersen (most notable for mastering the first Bon Iver album). When we first started the project this was the first track we wrote, so it felt right to put it out first.

Where did the inspiration come from for the name of the band?

Some of us are huge Science Fiction geeks and when the idea for the name came up, it just seemed to fit. We like to think there’s a technological theme to our music and it shows through our influences and the equipment we use, basically lots of toys!

So Wired to Follow, who do you follow? Who are your influences?

Many! It’d be fair to say Boards of Canada, Sigur Ros, Aphex Twin, Vangelis, Holy Fuck, Oceansize...

    What follows on from this?

After the show on Saturday we’ll be hitting the studio to work on an EP, which is due out in February next year. After that we are hoping to plan a short tour around the UK.
