Top 5: Albums 2012

    Top 5: Albums 2012
So we're nearing the end of the year and that means we can look back and make some lists. Here are the NewPath top 5 albums of 2012.

    Sigur Ros - Valtari

Some may say a little less accessible than the previous two releases as vocals are not as forefront but for me Valtari is a beautiful piece of work. I can't wait to catch them on their European tour next year.

Errors - Have Some Faith in Magic

Another fantastic release from electro-indie scots. Looks like they're going on the quiet next year so it was nice of them to put out EP Relics shortly afterwards to provide us with an extra Errors fix in 2013 should we need it.

Dirty Three - Toward the Low Sun

Dirty Three return with an amazing new album after seven (yes seven) years. There's so much to explore in this album, you can get lost in the space between the talk talk-esque drums and gorgeous violin parts. Stunning stuff.

    Baltic Fleet - Towers

Imagine Neu!, 80s Wire and Mogwai all in the same room. Paul Fleming has made something really special here. Hope to catch a show in the new year.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Allelujah! Don't Bend Ascend!

Having seen Godspeed perform a while back after a surprise reunion tour it was yet another surprise to learn they were putting a new record out. I especially like the opening track where guitars are used to sound like birds hovering above making for an epic experience.
